Achilles Creative Development
Rawcus is working with director Adena Jacobs and photographer Pia Johnson on a creative development for a new work – Achilles.
Achilles is an artistic enquiry into power, the vulnerable body and our attempts to keep each other and ourselves safe.
Using the iconographic image of Achilles’ mother, dipping her infant into the river Styx in order to grant him immortality, we are exploring questions of protection and inoculation. In an increasingly borderless, globalised world how do we protect the human body? The work explores our relationship to weakness, flaw and vulnerability and places the intimate and personal alongside alongside the mythical and the epic.
