A wild and playful collision of basketball and theatre.
Presented by Sydney Road Community School in partnership with Rawcus.
Over two terms Rawcus and SRCS explored how the worlds of basketball and performance collide, giving students opportunities to learn how to be choreographers, performers, basketball players, devisors and co-creators in the making of this work.
Collaborating with the Rawcus Ensemble and creative specialists David Maney, Sokol Blazovski and Bo Svoronos, Fanaticus also featured giant wheelchair-mounted puppets called Street Skeeters created and performed by Memetica’s Daniele Poidomani and Paralympian Matt Lewis OAM.
Staged on court to full houses at Brunswick Basketball Stadium, fully accessible and inclusive, Fanaticus was a wild and energetic entertaining display of astounding talent and diversity.
Supported by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria’s Creative Learning Partnerships Program and the Cassandra Gantner Foundation.
